Not-from-concentrate (NFC) juice is marketed on freshness and "no reconstitution," which makes its production line a hygiene-critical system rather than a simple filler. Because NFC is a low-acid, nutrient-rich product, it is a favorable medium for microbes if the line is not engineered correctly. Reconstituted juice starts from concentrate and is less sensitive to some process variables. NFC skips concentration, so it retains enzymes, pulp, and volatile compounds that demand gentler, cleaner handling. The line must protect these while ensuring safety.
NFC (pH often > 4.0 for many juices) requires a validated kill step—typically high-temperature short-time (HTST) pasteurization at ~90–95 °C for seconds, or aseptic processing for ambient shelf life. The pasteurizing tunnel or plate heat exchanger must be sized to flow and validated.

Product-contact parts should be 304/316L stainless with polished, dead-leg-free geometry (3-A / EHEDG mindset). Pulp traps at valves must be minimized.
Many NFC juices carry pulp. Use piston or specially ported fillers that resist clogging, and design the bowl/transfer to keep pulp in suspension uniformly. Uneven pulp = uneven fill and customer complaints.
For plants in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, ambient-temperature distribution makes aseptic or hot-fill (no cold chain) the pragmatic choice. Buyers from China exporting to these regions often specify aseptic monoblocks for premium NFC lines.
A: Only with a verified cold chain and short shelf life; most commercial NFC uses pasteurization or aseptic processing for safety.
